Islamabad to have Upgraded Sports Facilities

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will develop more sports grounds in the federal capital and the present sports facilities would be upgraded / improved to provide best possible opportunities to the young players.

This was stated by the Chairman CDA, Imtiaz Inayat Elahi, while addressing the gathering on the occasion of prize distribution ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Football Tournament. The tournament was organized by the CDA Golden Jubilee Secretariat in connection with 50th year celebrations of the capital city.

The Chairman CDA said that the Authority has chalked out a comprehensive schedule of colourful, recreational, informative and sports events for the residents of the city in connection with the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Islamabad. He said that CDA will also organize cricket, hockey, volleyball and other indoor tournaments during the current year.

The Chairman CDA said that youth is the real asset of a society and sports activities would keep them away from all kinds of negative activities and would lead to a healthy society. 

Earlier, the Chairman CDA Imtiaz Inayat Elahi witnessed the final of the Golden Jubilee Football Tournament played between CDA and Mehran Football Club. After a thrilling contest CDA Football Team defeated Mehran Football Club by 03 goals to 01. No goals could be scored by both the team during the allotted time; later on the match was decided on penalty kicks. Abbas, Qasim and Ahmed scored one goal each from CDA Football Team, while Mehran Football Club scored the solitary goal.

On this occasion, Chief Organizer of the Golden Jubilee Secretariat and Member Administration, Syed Mustafain Kazmi apprised the details of the tournament and informed that 30 prominent football clubs of Islamabad have participated in the Golden Jubilee Football Tournament. He lauded the efforts of organizing committee of the tournament and said that arrangements of the tournament were fabulous. He also appreciated the players for displaying their best skills during the tournament. 

The Chairman CDA, Imtiaz Inayat Elahi awarded trophy to CDA Football Team with Rs.20,000 cash prize while Rs. 15,000 cash prize to the runner-up team Mehran Football Club. Dr. Shahzad Waseem, other office bearers of Islamabad Football Association (IFA), representatives of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and a large number of spectators were also present during the prize distribution ceremony.
